Fogos - Corpses and Ashes Review

Spain is not the first country that comes to mind when talking about Black Metal, but Spanish Fogos presented a remarkable and rare album in the second wave Black Metal genre to Black Metal fans.
First of all, I have to say that this is a total pure Black Metal album. Touches of different genres or there is no other sound than Guitar-Bass-Drums-Vocal. If you like bands like Marduk, Gorgoroth, Dark Funeral, Nagelfar, early Satyricon, this album is made for you. Although I have given many examples to picture the sound in your mind, a heavy Marduk influence is noticeable from the very first track. Fast, aggressive, razor-sharp tremolo riffs, bass guitars that are not in the foreground but bring the sound to one level up, the uninterrupted incredible Blast-Beat performance of the drums.
The album has everything I want in a Black Metal album. Recording and mixing by Javi Félez was done at Moontower Studios in Barcelona. Mastering was completed by Dan Lowndes at Resonance Sound Studios in England. The band got excellent results from both addresses. As a diehard Black Metal fan I must clearly state that I could not digest guitar recordings with a primitive, razor-machine sound. That's why Marduk holds a very special place for me. They are the band that set the best example of how guitar and bass guitar sound should be in Black Metal, and they still have no rivals in the world. For this reason, I think I liked this album very much because I listened to a similar result in this album. In summary, the sound of the album is very good. Resonance Sound Studios did a good job whose bands such as Mortiferum and Leviathan touch on their work. Fogos is a new group; but the band members are people who have been known in the Spanish metal scene for a long time, I mean it should not be overlooked that there is a long accumulated experience behind this music.. If you are aware of bands like Obsidian Kingdom, Blazemth, you should know that Fogos members also play in these bands. "Corpses and Ashes" is an album that Black Metal fans should not miss, you should definitely listen to it guys

Fogos İspanyol Metal sahnesinin Black Metal türünde ürettigi son albümlerden birine imza atiyor. 2021'de kurulan grup, ilk full-length albümleri "Corpses and Ashes"ı 29 Temmuz 2022'de yayınladı.
Öncelikle söylemem gerekir ki bu tam bir Black Metal albümü. Farklı tarzlardan dokunuslar, Gitar-Bass-Davul-Vokal harici farkli bir ses yok. Marduk, Gorgoroth, Dark Funeral, Nagelfar, erken dönem Satyricon gibi gruplari seviyorsaniz bu albüm sizin için yapılmış demektir. Her ne kadar soundun aklinizda canlanmasi icin bir cok örnek vermiş olsamda daha ilk parçadan itibaren agir bir Marduk etkisi fark ediliyor. Hizli, agresif, jilet gibi tremolo riffler, ön planda olmayan ama sounda hayat veren Bass gitarlar, davulun ara vermeyen inanilmaz Blast-Beat performansi. Bir Black Metal albümünde olmasini istedigim her sey var. Javi Félez imzasini tasiyan kayıt ve miksaj Barcelona'da Moontower Studios'da yapilmis. Mastering ise Dan Lowndes tarafindan Resonance Sound Studios' tamamlanmış. Grup her iki adrestende muhtesem sonuc almis. Şunu açıkça belirtmeliyim ki, çok iyi bir Black Metal fani olmakla beraber ilkel, tras makinesi sounduna sahip gitar kayıtlarını oldum olasi hazmedememişimdir. Bu yüzden Marduk benim icin cok ayri bir yere sahiptir. Black Metal'de gitar ve bass gitar soundunun nasil olmasi gerektiginin en iyi örnegini ortaya koyan gruptur ve hala dünyada bir rakipleri yok. Bu nedenle bu albümde buna benzer bir sonucu dinledigim icin sanirim bu albümü cok sevdim. Özetle albümün soundu çok iyi. Mortiferum, Leviathan gibi gruplarinda işlerinde dokunusu olan Resonance Sound Studios iyi is cikarmiş. Fogos yeni bir grup; ama grup elemanlari uzun süredir Ispanya Metal sahnesinde bilinen kisiler. Obsidian Kingdom, Blazemth gibi gruplardan haberdarsınız bilinki Fogos elemanlari bu gruplarda da çalıyorlar, yani bu müziğin arkasinda uzun zamandir biriktirilmis bir tecrübenin olduğunu da göz ardı etmemek gerek. "Corpses and Ashes" Black Metal fanlarinin dikkatinden kacmamasi gereken bir albüm, mutlaka dinleyin.
