According to some Teutonic Thrash's undisputed best band, presented some of the first wave Black Metal works, and succeeded in being one of the first bands that come to mind when German Metal is mentioned... Ladies and Gentlemen Sodom is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Think of a Thrash Metal band on the stage for 40 years, Onkel Tom Angelripper and his team have worked continuously during this time, carried the band's career to the top, released 16 Studio albums and today they have the reputation of Metalheads around the World. It is clear that the album, which was prepared to celebrate this well-deserved career, was also worked on very delicately.

Although 40 Years at War - The Greatest Hell of Sodom is like a "Best off" product, actually there are not known classic songs that a Sodom fan would look for in this album. Although there were very good songs at the time they were released, they did not come to the fore somehow or the interest on them decreased over time with the arrival of a new album, such as songs were selected and re-recorded. The album opens with "Sepulchral Voice". With his new team, Tom Angelripper has managed to maintain the energy of the song when it was recorded. "Electrocution" and "Baptism Of Fire '' bring the riotous metal of the 80s that shook the walls to the present. “Body Parts” is one of the best songs of the re-recording process, I believe. Aa a result of the strategy they determined with Tom Angelripper's new team, they succeeded in getting a homogeneous result. The selected tones, mixing and mastering result are crystal clear. I can say that especially new versions of old songs are very comfortable to listen to; but it will spoil the taste of fans of the old sound, no doubt. This record will certainly not please everyone; but I think it is a special milestone in the band's career, so I think collectors should especially add this record to their archives.

The album artwork is by Eliran Kantör, showing the struggle of two mascot characters from Sodom. The famous gas masked soldier had a sword and he put the sword on another legendary character, the Red-hooded executioner's throat. What happens next is up to the creativity of the fans. I loved this work very much, it was a wonderful summary of 40 years. The appearance of products such as t-shirts and LPs offered for sale is also great.

I think Sodom is the best Thrash Metal band that Germany and Europe have come out of, and I consider myself lucky to have witnessed if not from the very beginning a large part of this band's career and watched live. I believe this album is a great collectible piece. Thrash lovers! Definitely make time for this album!

40 Years at War - The Greatest Hell of Sodom, "Best off" tadında bir ürün olsa da, aslında bir Sodom fanının gözlerinin arayacağı bir çok şarkı bu albümde yok. Yayınlandıkları dönemde çok iyi şarkılar olmasına rağmen bir şekilde öne çıkmamış ya da her yeni bir albümün gelişiyle üzerinde ki ilgi zamanla azalmış şarkılar seçilip yeniden kaydedilmiş.

"Electrocution" ve "Baptişm Of Fire" 80'lerin isyan barındıran, duvarları sarsan Metalini günümüze taşıyor. “Body Parts” ise sanırım yeniden kayıt sürecinin en iyi sonuç alınmış şarkılarından biri. Tom Angelripper yeni ekibiyle belirledikleri strateji sonucunda homojen bir sonuç almayı başarmışlar. Seçilen tonlar, miksaj ve mastering sonucu kristal netliğinde. Özellikle eski şarkıların yeni versiyonunun dinlemede fazlasıyla rahatlık sağladığını söyleyebilirim; ama eski soundun hayranlarının ağzının tadını bozacaktır şüphesiz. Bu kaydın herkesi memnun etmeyeceği kesin; ama grubun kariyerinde bence özel bir kilometre taşı niteliğinde, bu yüzden özellikle koleksiyonerlerin bu kaydı arşivlerine katmaları gerekir bence.

Bu albüm bence harika bir koleksiyonluk parça olmuş. Thrash severler bu albüme en az bir fiziki kopyasını kesinlikle arşivinize katin!!
