Rebel Souls, whose foundations were laid in Germany in 2000, was active between 2000-2003; A Death Metal band that stopped working after that. Rebel Souls released the single "Descent" in 2016 after thirteen years of silence, with some of the founding members moving to Spain-Malaga in 2013 where the band was resurrected. After a year of hard work, their first full-length album "The Forces of Darkness" was released under the Label At the Gates Records.
Rebel Souls released three demos between 2000-2003. But among these, I can only say that the "Winter 2003" recording is looks like a demo, and it has a duration of more than 14 minutes. For a band like Rebel Souls, that's half the time for a full-length album. The first two demos are actually self-released albums. "Dark Forces" is 31:39 minutes (there are 9 songs) and "Estrangement.Disillusion.Frost" is 56:07 minutes (14 songs with the Intro). We're talking about a band that fits one record per year, which shows that they are very productive. As a Death Metal fan, I feel sad when I think of 13 years of silence. After the release of the first album, founding member Thomas Plewnia is leaving the band in 2019; however, Rebel Souls co-founder Stefan Hielscher (bass, vocals) brought together a new team; He continued with Alex Guerrero (guitar, back vocals), Tornay (guitars) and Arnau Martí (drums).
Coming after five years of silence, "Dawn of Depravity" is an album that the band and Death Metal fans will enjoy listening to. First of all, I have to say that the band has moved up to a new level in songwriting and recording quality. A concept in the lyrics is written on the basis of the theme. Humanity's extinction and near extinction as a result of its own greed and corruption. Man's empire on planet Earth is in absolute decline.. As a Death Metal lyric theme, it might sound like a cliche; but considering the chaos the world has been in lately, I liked that the album completely matched with the time period when it was released.
The album has a very high energy from beginning to end. An extremely satisfying album for Death Metal. The guitar work is very good, the riffs are definitely not boring. It is obvious that a lot of time is spent on the math of the riff writing of the songs. unexpected changes and transitions, not too long, delicious guitar solos and catchy riffs definitely get a pass. I really like the tone chosen for the bass guitars, the bass guitar could have been one step ahead; but this choice is not disturbing. The harmony of the bass guitar with the sound is very nice. Drums are a different matter, Arnau Martí's performance is simply amazing, I would love to see him on stage. My favorite tracks in the album are; Poisoner Of The Harvest, Sea Of Crises and Beneath The Veneer.
The recordings were made at Wave Nation Studios in Spain. Mixing and mastering were done at Hansen Hansen Studios, which is known for its results with bands such as Aborted, Arch Enemy and Volbeat. I loved very much the recording results, the sound is absolutely crystal clear; but it also organic and very lively. Good job!
Finally, I would like to talk about the Artwork of the album. Artwork bears the signature of the wonderful Australian artist Mitchell Nolte, and we know him from his works with bands such as Aborted and Baest. Absolutely extraordinary, the idea of expressing the collapse of human civilization with the fall of the Roman Empire is wonderful. You find different details in every review. Romulus and Remus are one of those details. However, it is very difficult to master these details on the CD cover because so many warm colors are used together, I recommend you to buy the LP version of this album if it is released.
Dawn Of Depravity is a very enjoyable Death Metal album to listen to, If you like bands like Bloodbath, Suffocation, Hour Of Penance or Krisiun, I definitely recommend it to you. You will not find new elements about Death Metal that will put you in shock; but you will listen to a Death Metal album like a machine gun and it will definitely not make you regret it.

Bir Death Metal lirik teması olarak kulağa bir klişe gibi geliyor olabilir; ama dünyanın son dönemde içinde bulunduğu kaosu düşününce , albümün ortaya çıktığı zaman dilimiyle tamamiyle uyuşmasını sevdim.
Albümün baştan sona oldukça yüksek bir enerjisi var. Death Metal adına son derece tatmin edici bir albüm. Gitar işçiliği çok iyi, riffler kesinlikle sıkıcı değil. Şarkıların riff yazım matematiği üzerine oldukça zaman harcandığı belli oluyor. beklenmedik değişimler ve geçişler, çok uzun olmayan, lezzetli gitar soloları ve akılda kalıcı riffler, kesinlikle geçer not alıyor. Bass gitarlar için seçilmiş tonu çok beğendim, Bass gitar bir adım daha ön planda tutulabilirdi; ama bu tercihte rahatsız edici değil. Bass gitarın sound ile uyumu çok güzel. Davullar ise ayrın bir konu, Arnau Martí'nin performansı tek kelime ile harika, kendisini sahnede de izlemeyi çok isterdim.
